All Too Hard has been confirmed as a runner in the 2012 The Run To The Rose at Rosehill gardens Racecourse this Saturday September 1, 2012.
The three-year-old was also nominated for the Group 2 Memsie Stakes and the Group 3 HDF McNeil Stakes at Caulfield racecourse, however, will be staying in Sydney to face off against Pierro.
It will be the second time Pierro and All Too Hard have come head to head in their young horse racing careers.
Their last meeting came in the Group 1 Inglis Sires’ Produce Stakes at Royal Randwick Racecourse in April.
On that occasion, Pierro proved too good for All Too Hard and ran away with the win.
This time All Too Hard will have the fitness advantage after his last start run in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes on August 18, 2012.
The Casino Prince colt finished third behind Snitzerland and Driefontein in his first-up start, which is something his co-trainer Wayne Hawkes attributes to race’s slow tempo and a missed start.
“We weren’t disappointed with his run because his sectionals were outstanding,” Hawkes said.
“But if you miss the kick it’s all over, isn’t it?”
The 2012 The Run To The Rose will be the final lead-up race for All Too Hard before the $1 million Golden Rose, which will run on September 15, 2012.
Hawkes is hopeful a change in gear will help All Too Hard in both his next two starts.
“He’ll run in Sydney on Saturday in the lead-up to the Golden Rose,” he said.
“Winkers or blinkers, he’s going to have one or the other,” he said.
“These are little things we are tinkering with to make sure he’s right for the Group One (Golden Rose).”
