One of the first Group races for three-year-olds held at the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival, the 2011 The Run to the Rose race date is scheduled for Saturday August 27.
Held as part of a top day’s racing for Luxbet punters and spectators at the scenic Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, the Run to the Rose is a Group 3 race held over 1200 metres.
Offering $125,000 in total prize money, The Run To The Rose is specifically earmarked on the Sydney Spring Racing Calendar for horses eyeing a start in the lucrative 2011 Golden Rose.
The premier race for three-year-olds held in Sydney during the spring season, the $1 million Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) is due to take place at Rosehill on September 10 this year.
Most recently the Run to the Rose was won by the Gai Waterhouse-trained Squamosa in 2010, the talented colt going on to run a narrow second to last year’s Golden Rose winner Toorak Toff.
Toorak Toff did not come via the traditional Golden Rose lead-up, having their final preparatory run in the Listed Vain Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield a fortnight before which they also won.
The Run to the Rose has been a strong guide to the Golden Rose in recent years with Denman taking out the double in 2009.
A good Golden Rose betting tip, therefore, is to keep an eye on the Run to the Rose results as a guide before placing your bets at Luxbet.
The Run to the Rose is the sole Group race at the Rosehill meeting for August 27, 2011 but there will be a full race card for Luxbet customers to bet on and win off including the day’s other black-type race, the $100,000 Listed Premier’s Cup (1800m).
Nominations for the meeting will close on Monday August 22 followed by the release of the 2011 Run to the Rose final field and barrier draw on Wednesday August 28.
Don’t wait until race day to place your spring bets and have to settle for second best!
