Held at the start of the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival, The Run to the Roses is a quality Group 3 race for horses, many on their way to the riches of the more esteemed feature spring races.
Conducted at the picturesque Rosehill Racecourse in mid-August, the Group 3 The Run to the Roses is held over 1300m and is run under quality handicap conditions by horses aged three years and over.

Worth $125,000 in stakes, The Run to the Roses is one of the youngest horse races in Australia, first held in 2004.
The Run to the Roses is one of two Group status races conducted at the second Sydney spring race day, the other being the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m).
The Run to the Roses is primarily used as a lead-up run for horses on their way towards the richest Sydney spring feature for three-year-olds, the $1 million Golden Rose (1400m) also held at Rosehill two weeks later.
